about

Permian Thoughts is a collection of four tracks from late February 2018. The idea behind the EP is to create entire songs all from the scratch with predetermined time limit of five hours. Loosely following the limit each track took around five to seven hours to reach the form you can hear them now.

As an experiment "Permian Thoughts" once again reminded me of what you so easily tend to forget when creating. And that is defining the point when the track is FINISHED. The more you spend time on a song, the more it will lose its freshness in your ears. It starts to lose its magic. And when you struggle long enough the less the song will feel done and complete. Within the time limit (even not strictly following it) you just have to make the decision and call it finished. It might not be as perfect as after another five or ten hours but the result will be spontaneous and as good as it sounds at that moment. And to me, that's what will make these four tracks last longer before starting to get worn.
